Abstract
INTRODUCTION: The National Policy for Emergency Care was created to address the increasing demand for emergency services, resulting in the formation of an integrated care network, such as SAMU 192, and regional consortia.
OBJECTIVE: To analyze the epidemiological profile of SAMU 192 occurrences in the Southwest of Paraná, Brazil, between 2019 and 2022.
METHODS: The study uses data collected from Attendance Records, authorized by CIRUSPAR. Statistical analyses, including sex, age, and type of transfer, were conducted using the STATA software, with approval from the Ethics and Research Committee of the University Center of Pato Branco.
RESULTS: The analysis of SAMU 192 occurrences in the Southwest of Paraná between 2019 and 2022 reveals a male majority (53.2%) aged between 20 and 59 years (53.0%), with higher frequency in 2020. The main call types were clinical (57.3%) and traumatic (24.6%), while transfers were mainly clinical (63.2%) and for Covid-19 (13.6%).
DISCUSSION: It is understood that the high male demand in SAMU 192 may relate to occupational risks and health negligence, while the predominance of clinical and traumatic cases, with an increase during the pandemic, reflects public health challenges.
CONCLUSION: The analysis of collected data is essential to understand the epidemiological profile of SAMU occurrences in the Southwest region of Paraná. This analysis is crucial to guide the formulation of public policies aimed at improving the resources and response time of the service, thus enhancing the assistance provided to the Community.
